Reading Response Log and Journal: Astute Hoot Reading Response Logs and Journals can be used as a tool in the classroom as part of guided reading, silent reading, or for homework. The journals provide students with a structured format in which to respond to their reading. This format focuses student attention to critical reading strategies that improve metacognition and reading comprehension skills. Scaffolds in the form of sentence stems, a bank of strategies and an option for drawing a picture to support a response are also included.
